I agree, this game was a lot of fun for me. On top of that, art direction and music composition was top notch. In addition to the fast swordsman, you get a hulking character that attacks slowly but gets multiple hits per attack, an agile monk style character that backsteps as part of their combo, even a character that shoots down sights like it's a third person shooter to attack. It started slow but by the end you'd be able to sling high powered combos from multiple party members around the field in rapid succession.Īlso enjoyed how differently each of the characters felt to play. I also liked how the battle system leveled up at certain points in the game and became more complex. In terms of gameplay, I loved the dynamic use of both turn based and action elements as well as the implementation of light and darkness mechanics. ,3333,death,1q2w3e,eclipse,1q2w3e4r,drummer,montana,music,aaaa,carolina. The simplicity of the initial heroes vs tyrant plot was just a framing device for the progression of the loop cycle and how Frederich was slowly becoming self aware. I mean, I did have to sit down with with my co-op buddies for several hours to figure it out but when we did it was a revelation. Well that's all for now, I don't want to talk about the ending to avoid spoilers, overall great experience, it is a shame that the game is not in Xbox BC (however is available on the Xbox 360 marketplace, which is the version I played), the game is indeed part of Microsoft JRPG history, it was one of the first JRPGs on the Xbox 360 and it is a shame that it isn't that accessible for modern gamers while the rest of the games of the 360 JRPG history are available like Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, Star Ocean TLH, Magna Carta, Resonance of Fate, etc.Everyone hates on the story, but I think it has one of the best groundhog's day loops ever. The game aged well in relation to graphics, however the animations sometimes are a little bit off lolīoth dubs are REALLY good, the English one and the Japanese one The story is simple but works well imo since at the very start you understand that this is a dream, tho the PS3 version is better in how is presented in relation to small details The soundtrack, man the soundtrack, while is not my favourite Sakuraba's work, I think it is his best work by far The battle system gradually becomes more addicting and fun This one is hard to explain, but is the fact that the PS3 version added more content in relation to the cutscenes (like, more obvious Allegreto and Polka relationship, Jazz and Viola hits, etc) and even fights (like vs Ruined Body, which is a very anti-climatic fight in the 360 version because it happends kind of nowhere, while on the PS3 version is against Waltz too, which makes the battle and scenes way better and important)Īmazing art direction and art style, I LOVE the character models Ok this is a nitpick, but the fact that the English dub doesn't match with the lip sync is kind of strange, but no problem with Japanese voices The cutscenes are, sometimes, way too long or too frequent The first negative I want to talk about is about the difficulty, the game isn't hard, but sometimes is way too easy, when I read that the PS3 version did add a little more difficult I now understand why, the original 360 version is way too easy, even the bosses are easy (except at the beginning when you are still getting into the mechanics and the damn Dolce fight) specially with the Falsetto, March and Viola team Over 10 years of waiting and I finally finished this beautiful game, for me the game isn't perfect but it is far from being a bad game, it is a great game, for reference I played the Xbox 360 versionįirst of all, I want to talk about the negatives because the list is smaller than the positives
